Dr. Teddy

Dr. Teddy came from Costco in Houston, TX.  He is a 53-inch-high chemist bear.  He joined the Lee group in 2017 as the Group Mascot / Assistant Lab Manager.  His research duties include group entertainment and stress relief.  He enjoys watching the students write in the student office.

María Márquez

María Márquez was born in Houston, Texas. She earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry (minors in French and Global Business), graduating Cum Laude from the University of Houston in 2011. She earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee in 2017 with a research focus on the structure and properties of organic thin films. 

Long Han

Long Han was born in Quy Nhon, Vietnam.  In 2012, he joined the Lee Research Group.  He received a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2015.  He is currently pursuing his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. His research focus is on corrosion inhibitors that are used after acidizing treatments to protect drilling equipment or pipelines.

Hung-Vu Tran

Hung V. Tran is a postdoctoral fellow in the Lee group.  He obtained his Ph.D. degree at the University of Houston and B.S. degree at Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam National University (VNU), both are in Chemistry.  His previous research included new reaction development, carbon-hydrogen bond functionalization, carbon dioxide transformation, molecular catalysis and computational catalysis.  Hung’s research will focus primarily on the synthesis and characterization of organic adsorbates for the use as self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on metal substrates.
Tingting Liu

Tingting Liu, was born in ShanDong, China.  She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Nanjing University of Technology in 2012.  She is pursuing her Ph.D.  degree under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee with a research focus on nanoparticle technology for use in energy applications.
Tianlang Yu

Tianlang Yu, was born in Guangzhou, China.  He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Sun Yat-Sen University in China followed by a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Houston in 2015.  He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee with a research focus on mimicking the surface of industrially relevant polymers using self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on metal surfaces. 

Riddhiman Medhi

Riddhiman Medhi was born in Guwahati, India.  He received his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 2013 from Cotton College, under Gauhati University.  He further completed his M.Sc. degree in Inorganic Chemistry in 2015, also from Gauhati University.  He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee with a research focus on different metal oxide-based nanoparticles for energy and catalytic applications.

Pannaree Srinoi

Pannaree Srinoi was born in Bangkok, Thailand.  She earned a B.S. degree and M.S. degree in Chemistry from Kasetsart University, Thailand. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee with a research focus on plasmonic nanoparticles for photocatalytic applications.


Siwakorn Sakunkaewkasem

Siwakorn Sakunkaewkasem was born in Bangkok, Thailand. He obtained a B.S. degree in Chemistry at Silpakorn University in 2014. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee with a research focus on the development and characterization of organic thin films.


Parisa Ansari

Parisa Ansari is a Ph.D. student in Dr. Lee's group. She was born in Tehran, Iran. She got her Master’s degree in Physical Chemistry from Sharif University of Technology under Prof. G. A. Parsafar's guidance. She is currently working on her Ph.D. project under Prof. T. Randall Lee's and Prof. Richard. C. Willson's supervision. Her research focuses on the synthesis, functionalization and application of gold nanostars.


Yunsoo Choi

Yunsoo Choi was born in Donghae, South Korea. He earned a M.S. degree in Organic Chemistry from KonKuk University in 2016. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee with a research focus on the structure and properties of organic thin films. 

Nhat Ngo

Nhat M. Ngo was born in Vietnam. He earned a B.S. degree in physics from the University of Science in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam in 2011. He is pursuing his PhD in Chemistry under Dr. T. Randall Lee's guidance with the research interest in nanoparticles for energy applications.
Jiyoung Lee

Jiyoung Lee was born in Changwon, South Korea. She received a B.S. degree in 2010 and Master's degree in 2012 in Chemical Engineering, from Korea University. After her education, she worked in the industrial field for 4 years in Korea. She joined the Lee group in 2018 to pursue her Ph.D. in Chemistry.

Pooria Tajalli
Pooria Tajalli was born in Babol, Iran.  He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran.  He later attended Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy to obtain a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.  In 2018, he joined Dr. Lee’s group to pursue his Ph.D. in Chemistry.
Mina Omidiyan
Mina Omidiyan was born in Mashhad, Iran. She received her M.S. degree in organic chemistry from Shahrood University of Technology in 2013. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in organic chemistry under the guidance of Dr. T. Randall Lee. Her research interest is in the synthesis and development of nanoparticles with different applications.


Kontee Thongthai
Kontee Thongthai was born in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  He received a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Chemistry from Chiang Mai University.  He is currently a visiting researcher working under Dr. T. Randall Lee.  His research interests are in the area of synthesis, characterization and catalytic application of Au/Pt bimetallic and Ag/Au/Pt trimetallic nanoparticles.


Marvin Valverde
Marvin was born in the Houston area.  He is an undergraduate student working on a B.S. in Chemistry. He joined the Lee group in the fall of 2018.  Marvin enjoys research and wants to attend graduate school to earn a PhD in Chemistry
